On his way in, he passed by Minato and spared him a bit of a glance before continuing on.
Now that he's on his way back out, finding the boy still sitting there, he's a bit surprised. The cardboard tray carries two coffee cups - he wasn't quite sure why Mitsunari wanted two, but there they were - and what seemed to be a... Mocha Caramel Frappucino. Oh Starbucks, what couldn't they do. Also a grilled cheese sandwich. Because Starbucks now serves grilled cheese sandwiches too, ayup.
Still though, he's a friendly guy. He can't just keep walking after seeing the same person in the same position in the same afternoon-
So he doesn't. Instead, he pauses and tilts his head curiously, a grin set on his face.]
That must be an awfully interesting

And he really didn't.
Especially not with people he doesn't know who aren't related to why he's here at all; paranoia was an irritating, but useful state of being for them. ]
... Not really.
[ Old news is old, he's hardly surprised, perhaps a little amused. La la la obituaries~ Oh hey that one is one of theirs from the last Dark Hour.
Not that you'd notice, what with the lack of any expression going on here. ]

Ah? Then I wonder why it still has your attention!
Reply
It doesn't. ... I'm finished, anyway.
[ And so he is. He folds the newspaper up, sitting it there on the table the same way he'd gotten it. Neat, orderly. ]
There wasn't anything really interesting.
[ Because he knew all of this already. ]

[Then as if there is absolutely zero chance that this coffee could even possibly go cold, he decides this is the perfect chance for a conversation, don't even be silly.]
Then why don't you tell me about it? I mean, that's the point of being informed, right? Might as well help fulfill it's worth by sharing it with others!

According to the local paper, there's been a rise in cases of people becoming apathetic to the point of not caring about anything. They're calling it "Apathy Syndrome".
[ AKA Shadows are eating people's souls. Again, he knows this, and it is old news. ]
There's also been a series of unsolved murders that the article seems to think are connected.
[ Sharp reporter, here. They'd need to be careful with whoever wrote that article. ]

[A thoughtful pause and well what do you know, he's going to move to sit down-]
Oh, I hope you don't mind. May I?
[Though it's really only kind of a preliminary thing. He sits down anyway.]
How saddening... Apathy Syndrome and unsolved murders? Might the officers be apathetic about solving the cases...?

[ If he was bothered or was going to say no, he doesn't. Instead, he simply settles his hands in his pockets. ... Though it confuses him as to why Ieyasu finds it "saddening". What about that is sad? ]
... Why do you think it's sad?
Reply
[Those bonds, bro. Those bonds.
Seriously though, he can't help but be a little sad. Settling the coffee tray and the bag containing the sandwich in front of him, he slouches a little. His brows knit together as he seems to be deep in thought. What can he do about it?
He feels like... he should do something about it....]
Reply
... No. He won't think about this. ]
Everyone dies. How is it that surprising? You'll die too, someday. What does it matter how it happens?
[ It's not a subject he sees, like a normal person. None of his team saw it that way. Death was... their only constant. ]

Of course I will... but I want to make the most of that time until then. Even if I fall, I would rather that the influences I had left behind are able to manifest themselves in others and help provide for a better future.
I want the ones who are left behind to be taken care of. Those families and loved ones are probably still quite sad. They deserve some closure at the very least!
Reply
The families weren't his problem. People like the ones they took out shouldn't have been allowed to have a family at all. ]
... We could all die tomorrow. It's really not any different.
[ Who knows? The world could end, or any number of things. ]
You can't guarantee closure even if whoever was behind it was caught, anyway.

[A bit of a bitter laugh accompanied with a forced smile. He believes in this, he really does. But at the same time... he never wants to think that the world will end. There's still so much left he wants to do.]
There are no guarantees, you're right. But does that mean we shouldn't try in the first place? Haha, are you sure you aren't coming down with a bit of Apathy Syndrome of your own, my friend?
Reply
Still. He is amused at the suggestion. He merely smiles. ]
I'm sure I'm not.
[ After all, that'd require him to stop caring about everything. And he cares a great deal for his friends--his team. ]

[A chuckle.]
Then for that, I am glad. That is one less person to worry about in this town. I should hope that everyone else will find the same strength and you would lend this strength of yours to others!
I'm ashamed I hadn't been paying more attention. Perhaps with the assistance of others, there would be far less to be apathetic about. A drop in the bucket perhaps, but I'm certain that with enough perseverance, it shall one day overflow.
