I was assembling a disk for lauramcewan of Methos-Duncan scenes (with emphasis on the proximity/subtext) last night, and it was fascinating to see the progression of their relationship. I went through the episodes in chronological order, so as to not make myself crazy or miss things, and except for the scenes I was recording (and a few particular favorites

I love Highlander. I wish I could afford to buy all the seasons. Instead, I have the best of box collection which has almost all of the Methos episodes.

What struck me about the relationship between Duncan and Methos was that it never seemed to go beyond a testing phase -- that Duncan was always challenging Methos or arguing with him.

I love the Methos and Joe friendship. I always got much more emotional satisfaction from their interaction than I ever did from the interactions between Duncan and Methos. Their relationship has always tended to leave me a little cold.
