To my Yuletide Santa

I've never done this before, so babbling may well ensue here.

First of all, thank you so very very much for writing something for me!

And now, because I really did babble on a bit, the details are ( behind the curtain )

yuletide, fic, fandom

Eeeee! You requested Coldfire? I feel just about the same about Gerald. I hope that's the one you get so I can read it.

Dear Brain:

"Wouldn't Wander simply adore Gerald Tarrant/Caolin crossover?"

Well, probably not. Let us talk ourselves out of this:
  1. Caolin was a one-man man. Tarrant != Jehan. QED.
    1. Well, yes, there's Ardra, but you're not fooling me, that's a play on the Alberich/Hagen motif. Cue the Wagner tuba.
  2. Tarrant? Mostly straight. Not a Kinsey 0, certainly...but what? 1.5?
  3. Now, what one can argue is that both saw themselves as defenders of their land.
    1. ...with Tarrant succeeding where Caolin failed, to be sure.

I would utterly, utterly *love* to see Tarrant-Caolin (Tarrant/Caolin would be lovely too -- with the caveats you state ... but that could make the story all the more interesting....) They would so have things to say to each other!

By the way, may I snaffle the Westria icon?

Feel free to snag the icon!

But--those are still sticking points for me. Why would either ever see the other as a rival and/or an obstacle?

Not that ever stopped a /grrl before, mind. But they are neither one of them stupid; how do you get them close enough for sparks to fly without Tarrant whacking off Caolin's head with his mucking great sword or Caolin sending a pack of lackeys to deal with the sorceror who's poaching on his Westria?

(as Tarrant is a more migratory fellow than Caolin)

Tarrant's interest could be piqued by curiosity, 'tis true--and that might cause him to dare Blood Gard where it broods on the slopes of the Red Mountain--which, not being a volcano, wouldn't bar Tarrant from working what, by Westrian terms, would be sorcery.

So: what could Caolin have that Tarrant could want?
