kassrachel's post on fanworks as midrash -- jblum, kateorman and jgtanthony, I think you will find this post extremely interesting. I certainly did. I was vividly reminded of the class I took in seminary on Ecclesiates -- all we did that semester was read and analyze that one text over and over, using different translations and focussing on different aspects.
