Aw, man, I'm sorry that you didn't like it as much as I did. I loved the second book even more because suddenly there were kickass women pirates in it. But I do confess that I skimmed through some of the chapters of the first book that weren't specifically about the Bastards.

So I read in your review, but the first had cool female characters as well. I don't regret reading it at all, but precisely because the idea was so much fun, I was all the more disappointed when it turned out to be an average action book by the second half. And I am relieved to read you skimmed too! I skimmed ALL the descriptions from a point, because they completely broke the flow!!

Yeah, I got irritated at times by the descriptions and the way each chapter jumped around in the timeline...until it grew on me and I decided that I liked the style! I admit, though, I'm a sucker for snappy dialogue and Scott knows how to write snappy dialogue.

Ah well, at least you don't regret it. To each their own!

So many contradictory comments... Would you recommend this book or not? (even though I'm not really into fantasy)

Either way, I won't have enough money to find myself a physical copy. *sigh*

I know, sorry, there are mixed feelings because there is much to like but more to be disappointed about. Precisely because I was liking it to a point, I expected more. But the two friends who recced it love these books, so I'd say it is worth a read, I am glad I gave it a try. And you can find an electronic copy floating around the Interwebs. ; )

Vaya review.

¡Gracias!
