In The LEVERAGE Conference Room:
"We need to keep an eye on the family," Nate said. "Particularly the two little girls. Parker?"
She looked up, abject terror clear in her expression. "Me?"
"Why not?" Sophie asked. "You're very nearly one yourself."
"Now now," Nate said, in case either of them was about to go for the jugular, literally or figuratively.
"But they're..." Parker said. "Little."
Sophie half expected her to say 'they're not human' and she would've agreed with Parker on that score.
"How hard could it be?" Eliot asked Parker.
"I guess," Parker said reluctantly. "I suppose we could talk about birthday parties."
"There, ya'see?"
"Wasn't that when you saw a horse kill a clown?" Nate asked. When Parker nodded, "Okay, change of plans - Eliot, you're with the family. Parker, you keep an eye on the guy everyone calls 'Grandfather'."
"Okay," Parker said cheerfully.
