The Birthday Visit

I've written many times about my admiration and affection for certain Noble Webcomic Females.

This list started out with Mopsy, the pooka that takes care of the gang from Never Never, and Florence Ambrose, who keeps the ship together in Freefall.

Shortly thereafter, Tavatiana, the premier of Canovia from Gene Catlow joined this list, and then ( Read more... )

Impressive! :) the_lizard_rat April 12 2004, 13:58:06 UTC
Is it safe to assume this is your new desktop wallpaper? That picture is exceptional. I can only imagine how long it must have taken to draw, ink, and everything... especially with the level of detail you say rowyn did on the original. Done in Photoshop, I'll asuume?

Awesome present, at any rate :) With stuff like this, I bet she's going to get flooded with "can you draw me or my character?" requests (starting with me :) ), if not offers for artist jobs or such... but that's just me.

Lizard Rat out.

You can always ask, and I cannot speak for her.

It strikes me as amusing, just now in retrospect, to realize the connection between the ladies' laughter and that journal entry. In it, I was describing being shot at. ];-)

I should've done the Noble Webcomic Females entry instead. Ah well. (I suppose it's not too late to fix that, though knowing you, you'd probably hang onto the old version anyway, just to tease me about it).

And then again, you were the one who put this entry under "humor" in your memories.

He'd been hit by buckshot, though his condition wasn't "serious", it was the opposite: "funny".

Well ... there's that. ];-)

But that moment did cost me a relationship, so I had rather mixed feelings about it at the time. It seemed rather like being dropped into a comedy movie where it's so funny to watch things going wrong for the protagonist.

At least it wasn't like being a protagonist of "Dumb and Dumber". ];-)

Great tribute, my friend. I hope you have it suitably framed (or in the process) and will display it with pride.

Regards to both your Lady and to Rowyn!
FINE job!

It will be done -- and 'twas a fine job indeed. Not just the art! ];-)

Thank you, sir. :) I meant to have it framed before I left, but I ran out of time. As it was, Lut had to run out at the last minute just to pick up the picture itself, never mind a frame for it. :)

Hear, hear -- on all three!

I know how delighted my webcomic artist friends are when they receive fan art! And this is that, too, for four of them. But it is much more than that for me. ];-)

I'm keenly aware of my good fortune! And thanks for being part of it.

Rowyn did an excellent job, even down to the subtleties of reflections. She captured the style of the original artists quite nicely: The Gneech, Mark Stanley, Albert Temple and Scott Kellogg seemed to have ganged up to do this.

But the Lady Rowyn's finest creations, perhaps, are her writings -- she is quite wonderfully creative in this area as well.

I hesitate to imagine what the original looks like.

Also, I'm somewhat embarrassed. Although I obviously have not met any of you (level_head, lady_anne, makovette, rowyn, or the artists) in RL, I kept on dithering regarding whether to "jump in" (or not, as I actually did not).

It would be cool to meet you too - though I have no idea what continent you live on...

I've found that jumping in is the only way to get your feet wet :)

I live two counties south of Olathe in the KCK area: relatively close to rowyn. Looking northwards, anything south of 110th St. Kansas-side is a very reasonable drive (<1 hour).

I really ought to come down and meet you sometime. Did you say you were in Lawrence?
