Wow. I'm sold sold sold. I've been skirting HP fandom for all the obvious reasons but looking for a way to make Harry/Draco believable for all the obvious reasons... you've made a great case (and I think your brain is pretty reliable from what I know!)
I'm out of the country until October 12... will the downloadable PDF be available at her site? (I shall email myself a reminder to get this once I return stateside.)
It should be available on her journal, mistful. I'll email you before the month is up to make sure you got a copy of the pdf. I want people to be able to read these stories! (Though respect that she's taking them down, and of course wouldn't violate that.)
I'm not sure Harry/Draco is ever quite believable in the universe of JKR. But the problem is...I don't find JKR very believable--that Harry could be so normal and happy after such a fucked up childhood, that Draco could be so one dimensional despite the utterly bizarre things he sometimes does.
I'll be interested to talk with you about them if you do read them!
The end of an era! It really is. I was just telling someone this morning that canon has closed on my favorite fandom, because Maya's fic--DDG by itself even!--could be counted as its own fandom. So we've had the last of our Maya fic, but have SRB novels to look forward to. I imagine I'll still be rereading the fanfic for years and years, though. :)
Yep, I'm far more sad, nostalgic and sort of bittersweet feeling about this than I was about HP closing. But damn, I'm sure looking forward to Demon's Lexicon.
Oh, I'll be so sad to not have her around in a fannish capacity. She's So FUNNY. And she was totally my gateway drug into HP back when I first got around these parts lo these many years.
But that's so hopeful, her going pro. She's a terrific writer. (And you, Joy, are a terrific fan.)
I'll be sad not to have her fanfic too, but then again, like I've said, it was hardly fanfic to me, since the characters became different than canon for me.
I'm definitely a terrific fan because I obsess like whoa! But thanks :o)
Thanks so much for expressing all those things so wonderfully and to the point! *hearts* Yes, this is no fling. And yes, Maya's writing has become a fandom in itself.
I was kind of disappointed by the ending of QoM, but then I am hopelessly H/D. DDG made up for it fully. Won't say more, though, I don't want to spoiler you. There will be Maya's books to look forward to. *hugs*
Well, it's pretty obvious from the second to last chapter that the last chapter has to be pretty open ended...I'm alright with that. I love what Maya did with the Harry/Ginny ship, and they're only kids. Unlike JKR I don't want their whole lives to be lived out in their teens. But...it still doesn't feel like it should be ended yet to me.

Thanks again for these fics.
I still haven't read the end of QoM...I don't know what to do with myself.
