I'm on A Storm of Swords too!! I started it today actually. Game of Thrones was slow because I had seen the show already and there were no surprises, but I ate through Clash of Kings like WOAH. These books are CRAZY.

THEY REALLY ARE CRAZY! :D
Especially the first time when you still get to be surprised. When I bought the first book the cashier at the store (it was at a sf/fantasy themed book store) was like "oh god I'm so jealous right now! I wish I could read these books again for the first time.".
My dad is reading through them really slowly. I don't think high fantasy is really his genre. :/

That's by far the best thing about these books. The moment you think you've got the outcome figured out, BAM someone comes out of the blue and changes the whole game. I also love how you can't help but want all factions to win. If I read Cersei's point of view I feel sorry for her and want the Lannisters to win, if I read Theon's the same, if I read Cat's... etc, etc, etc. I think that's genius.
Hahaha, some people are just not made for fantasy. My dad's been saying for years that he'll read Harry Potter and he finally started it this year but only got to the fourth book. It's funny how he comes up with the all the crazy theories yeaaaaars after we all learned the ending. He's crazy about spoilers too, it's really funny.

Exactly! I love the "what's gonna happen next?! :O" feeling in this series.
Oh, I get so freaking annoyed reading discussions about the books, sometimes. Everyone in the fandom seems to think they know exactly what's going to happen, which makes me wonder if they've been paying attention. Also I hope they're wrong, I don't want the last two books to suddenly be all predictable. :/
And I agree about the rooting-for-everyone thing! I've felt the same way when reading some of Robin Hobb's books (have you read any of her books? Some of them are great. Her best series are actually really similar to ASOIAF), but that's the only other books I can think of where that's happened to me. Usually you have specific people you want to succeed.
My dad is more of a scifi kind of person, I think. :)
lol that's great! XD What's his craziest theory so far?
