You found her somehow. She was lost and you showed her the way back; or maybe just a way. But you knew she'd followed your path because of the way she smiled at you. She had never so much as glanced at you without her eyes rolling and her nose turning up. And the moment she stood beside you, smiling, and managing to both mock and approve of you at once, you felt something, but you weren't sure what it was.
You knew something was wrong beneath the costume. She didn't hold back: shoulder bump, elbow down, tongue running fast. Then she touched you with velvet gloves and made you feel alive. Everyone was there but no one really knew. Then you realised everything that was wrong, and forgot that which had felt so...
But how were you always finding her when you weren't looking? Even more strange, she always seemed to need you to find her. So you said the right things, after saying all the wrong ones, and you took her hand and it felt... But then everything fell apart again. Right before your eyes. This all consuming emotion that makes her feel like she's floating on air.
For the first time she isn't afraid of love; afraid that it'll be taken away, denied her or that she'd have to work for it like lovers past.
In fact, loving him is easy, too easy, that she has to test him or pinch herself to remind herself that it is real.
Whoever said "True love can only exist when it is returned"; knows what they're talking about - Never a truer word spoken.
I wrote this literally in five minutes and it's unbeta'd. Apologies if it is really bad.
