The Emmy Travesty

Jul 19, 2012 07:03

Is it OK if I post something here? I know I'm not alone in being upset with the Emmys not nominating Parks and Recreation for Best Comedy. Amy Poehler got two extremely well-deserved nominations for acting and writing, and Mike Schur got a writing nomination too, but that was it. No one else got a nod for acting, even though a lot of people thought ( Read more... )

Donna says it all.

Oh, I guess Parks got 2 other nominations in lesser categories but they'll probably lose those anyway : (.

I just want to be like, stop nominating Modern Family for things. All they do is yell.

Like, seriously? Two-thirds of supporting actor nominations needed to go to that show? If not Nick Offerman, why not someone from Happy Endings, or like-- I don't know, but there are more shows out there.

Edit: OR DANNY PUDI. I'm actually mad about this.

Care to take pity on people at work who for some reason have access to LJ, but not Tumblr and post them here?

One of my friends thinks Lena Dunham is going to win for Girls over Amy and JLD.

Which.

I'm sorry, I don't get that show. I don't get it. At all.

And she's super excited and I'm ACTUALLY pissed.

AMY DARLING YOU MUST WIN FOR ALL OF PARKS OKAY. And we know you'll turn it into a win for all of parks

In the meantime, I'm burning Utica to the ground.

This is Amy's year! How dare they not nominate Parks and way cut down her chances.

I just don't understand. The LA Times critics (all four of them) said that Parks was a "Best Bet" to be nominated. It was the *only* show to get four best-bets.

I SMELL A PLOT.

(What kind of plot, I don't know.)

My theory is they got their feelings hurt last year when Amy said that the oversight on Nick was a quote "hot load of bullshit". Clinging to this because otherwise they're just idiots.

I think Parks never gets as many Emmy noms as it deserves, but that basically ALL the noms. Or maybe just enough for Best Comedy, Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Nick Offerman, and Retta.

Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series
Nominees:
"Community" (2009): Chris McKenna("Remedial Chaos Theory")
"Girls" (2012): Lena Dunham("Pilot")
"Louie" (2010): Louis C.K.("Pregnant")
"Parks and Recreation" (2009): Amy Poehler("The Debate")
"Parks and Recreation" (2009): Michael Schur("Win, Lose, or Draw")

Can we all pretend that this is the actual comedy category? The best writing/series disconnect is embarrassing.

I know it's been pointed out a million times on tumblr... but how can there be so little overlap between best writing and best show nominations? Are the Emmys openly admitting they prefer shows with average to terrible writing?

I'm sad that Community's only nomination is up against one of Park's only ones too - I would have loved them to both to have a shot. :(

Outstanding writing is obviously a deterrent for a good comedy. Actually that was sarcasm but I forgot to inflect.

I feel the same way.

I have a feeling this will not be good, either, because Park is nominated twice. It's going to split the Parks-fan-emmy-voters.
