I have to admit that I'm really disliking the "childhood love" angle that the prequel is giving us (and the prequel idea in general - I HATE prequels, and it's going to be impossible to play as a story without it being an alternate history). I've always imagined that Mortimer met Bella in college. Someone as elegant and ~magical~ as Bella would have walked into his life fully-formed, the way I see it.
Oh, I actually dig that they kept the angle. If you go through their memories in TS2 it also mentions them being BFFs from childhood so it was neat that they kept that consistent. Oh, and them being childhood BFFs helped to shape a lot of my opinions and characterization of Bella, especially when I wrote Left Our Love.
I don't mind the prequel, because it isn't really? Like, the prequel ends the second you start playing and instead becomes an alternate reality, because there's no way to completely recreate EVERYTHING that happens in TS2. So, I'm pretty cool with it, because it's not a prequel so much as it is a What If game.
Oh and I never really thought that Mortimer saw her as just a pretty face or sex symbol or anything like that. I like to think that he really and truly loved HER.
Oh, really? I never really looked into it. I suppose I'll have to let go and respect the canon, but the ageless Kaylynn thing? They WILL NOT convince me that this is somehow canon! D:
Well, maybe I can accept her as a witch, since Bella's supposed to be one too.
I guess I'm just not a fan of childhood romances that last into adulthood. It's okay sometimes, but I don't really believe in it, you know? I suppose it's like any REAL love relationship: born from familiarity more than passion. The ones that last, anyway.
Oh, me too, but you can find someone gorgeous and goddess-like and still respect their intellect and love them. I think he would have seen her as both.
I see Bella as having this charisma that makes her seem like "the answer to all your prayers" to most men who come in contact with her (again, maybe the witchiness), and that's what happened to Don. It was so powerful, it even carried on over to Cassandra (who I don't think he really loves for a minute).
Haha, no I agree. Kaylynn being the same age/a bit older than Morty and Bella makes NO SENSE. I like the witch angle, but I also think maybe it has something to do with Mortimer and discovering the Elixir of Life? I don't know, maybe he promised her youth in return for her to forget she ever knew him and Bella, because she made their lives troublesome? LOL. I don't know. I like that it opens up this TRAIN OF CRAZY.
I think I'm the opposite. IRL I think it's cute, but incredibly unlikely. In fiction, I love seeing people grow up together and realize one day that they're in love with one another. I wouldn't have minded Bella and Mortimer meeting later on and I actually thought that's what I'd find when I did my EPIC MEMORY search for LOLOh, I do agree with you. Like, I think he thought ridiculously highly of her. Even as a kid he seems to be like: "MY BFF BELLA IS AWESOME." But I also like that it probably took him some time to go: "Oh, she's also beautiful and perfect too
( ... )
That is adorable! And I see you left him in those boots, lol! I love those boots, too. :D
So cool to see you drawing characters from TS3!! Yay!
*puts on mod hat* Are you a member at simply_sims3 I'm sure you could post TS3 fanart over there if you wanted! I know I would love it and I'm sure others would too!
I hear you about just wanting to play! I don't think I'm going to be able to play until late. :(
THOSE BOOTS ARE THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE. Seriously, I got to play for a tiny bit (and was disappointed, but mostly because Kayla's game is a bit laggy and the graphics are pretty poop) and the first thing I did was go into the Goth house and go: "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTS!"
I need to draw them MOAR, because I am so unsatisfied with how they look ATM.
I am not a member, but I keep peeking at the posts there. I'll join and post later tonight! Thanks for letting me know!
I've always been fond of them, but my love for them has basically gone up INFINITY PERCENT since I saw a picture of MORTIMER IN THOSE BOOTS. I don't get how that relates to LOVE OF BELLA/MORTIMER, but OH MAN I LOVE THEM!
They are really cute...but I agree with strange, it doesn't seem right that they met so young. Morty is meant to be old money and I always thought Bella met him through work or study.
I disagree! Respectfully! I love the direction they've gone in, with Mortimer being like: "AND THIS IS MY BEST FRIEND BELLA SHE IS AWESOME AND HER HAIR IS SHINY AND I AM GRUMPY A LOT BUT MY BFF IS THE BESTIEST I LOVE HER DID I JUST SAY THAT I MEAN SHE'S AWESOME ALSO LOOK AT MY BOOOOOOOOOOOOTS!!!!"
Okay, so he's not really like that, but I love that they're best friends and that they do best friendy-things and that the grow up and get married and she disappears and he's sad forever, because SHE WAS HIS FAVORITE PERSON IN ALL THE WORLD SINCE BEFORE HE CAN REMEMBER. ;_;
