Wolverine

This is a great movie. A great, great movie. It is littered with much shrieking of manpain to the heavens and has absolutely no logic at all. That, my friends, is what makes it great. Where lesser films rely on plot and coherency, this one disdains such minor matters.

Spoilers, even though I don't think you can really spoil a movie like this. )

They probably have manpain competitions. And then all wander off into the woods to howl at the sky. Except for Bourne, who is far too stoic. And then he gets annoyed because the others insist that his manpain doesn't run deep enough.

LOLOLOL I love this post. I found some parts hilarious too but thoroughly enjoyed the fanservice provided by Hugh Jackman and Daniel Henney (though too bad the latter died within 10-15 minutes into the movie). Heee... ^^;

Daniel Henney lasted longer than I thought - I was afraid he was going to be like the ex-hobbit with the electricity powers and die with about three lines. This was a total, hilarious mess with lots of pretty, pretty men. Hard not to like!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Oh god oh god I cannot wait to see it again ohhhhh. And Daniel Henney is not getting any better at acting, but since that's not really the point of Daniel Henney anyway I was extremely happy to see him.

Daniel Henney's stellar talent is to stand around being very attractive. I have no problem with this. :P

I saw it yesterday with my book group. I guess we're not so very literary. Luckily, I had bethynyc to translate X-Men-universe for me, as I have seen the movies and that is it. For example, I would never have known that Liev Schrieber was supposed to be the same character played by a guy in much heavier makeup in some of the other movies. (According to bethynyc, who I must believe because She Knows Comic Books.) But, as I have seen Liev Schrieber play Macbeth in Central Park (and pretty good at it, too), I suppose he has in his contract "I am a Serious Actor and will only wear *moderately* silly makeup as I am CGI'ed into making breathtaking leaps across the screen . . . all the while emanating Serious Actorness."

Never having seen Daniel Henney onscreen before, I immediately thought of you and your many Kdrama spams starring him. Pretty.

I don't know much about the X-Men comics - and I think I quite enjoy it. Other people always seem to get really irate about Cyclops and the decimation of their favourite character, but I'm just happy to admire all the pretty.

I've never seen Liev Schrieber on stage, but I wasn't a huge fan of him in this. Well, maybe it's the character - it's hard to buy wolfman-catthing-whatever he was no matter who plays him.

Yes, his role here was mostly limited to grimacing and looking threatening, but he's quite good when he has an actual part. I just never made the connection that he was supposed to be the same as that other guy in the other movies, 'til Bethy told me. Ah, well, joining the ranks of actors who support their stage careers by playing comic book villains. (After all, there was that cameo by my favorite Prospero, who isn't paying the mortgage with his Shakespeare roles, either.)

I totally agree. This movie was AWESOME. (I especially agree with point #2 and #7.)

And there *WAS* a plot... if you squinted at the movie the right way, you could see it.

I think the plot was 'how can we get Hugh Jackman to wail at the skies/look hot/take his shirt off?' In that they succeeded admirably.
