At least this one wasn't preceded by an earthquake.
This one gave me the opportunity to start cutting that disgusting carpet out of our room, so I count it as a net gain. -

Hello, lovely people; it's been a while. I haven't been up to posting much.
There are several reasons for that, the main one being my Dad passed away in Panama December 27. I couldn't even attend his funeral, because we haven't been able to afford my green card application fees.

The earthquake that rattled us earlier this week apparently caused cracks in the foundation of the townhouses where we live. There are several leaks in the basement. They're nothing the French drain and sump pump can't handle. The problem is that there were no leaks before. And then there's the leak inside the dining room wall.

Been a long day...
Chris and I have been salvaging stuff from someone's dilapidated trailer. It's a paid job. We had to finish up by today because they had to turn the key in by 4:00 pm.
Today I had to get up at 4:30, we began salvage work at 6:00, got three and a half carloads sent to storage, were done at 2:00 because of the heat, came back home to shower and nap ( Read more... )
