This Love Is Glowing In The Dark

Good morning! I have NO idea why I'm in such a great mood, I have a terrible cold and I am out of money after paying off my bills for the month, but I'm going to go with it!!!

badboy_fangirl was talking about The Vampire Diaries in her journal (as she does), and it got me thinking about the subject of EndgameWe all have our favorites, our wishes, and what we're ( Read more... )

As you know, I have my own curiosity about Damon and Bonnie because all the pieces were certainly there. And if I didn't ship D/E so much, I'm sure I would have been fully onboard with it. I do enjoy their begrudging brOTP now, though, since that's all we'll get ( ... )

I'm curious to see if anyone will ever write Bonnie/Damon AU where they actually spend eternity alone in Mystic Falls, 1994. I mean, eventually there would have been sex, right??

I did watch Lost...aaaaaaaand I never had any interest whatsoever in Evangeline Lilly. Sayid/Shannon was my ship there. (Do you hate me now? Yes/no?) But that was my early days with organized, online fandom and those early days of Lost were kind of like, throw spaghetti at the wall and see if it sticks. I wanted Sawyer and Claire. Go figure.

I'm telling you, especially after The World Has Turned And Left Me Here, I'm seeing the D/E long game...I kind of feel like the boon of an Elena/Stefan fan is that when she chose him in the The Departed, it was her last act as a human. But...the long game of this series has *actually* been to transition Elena from a teenaged girl to an immortal. And once she made that transition, all the pieces to D/E just naturally fell into place, because the groundwork was there ( ... )

I should have realized we'd be back to square one if we ever discussed a show other than TWD, :-P

I did like Shannon/Sayid (I cried so hard when they were reunited in the series finale), but of course Boone/Shannon is my dirty!wrong!ship of that show. But did you watch the show past S2? Because S3 is where it's at for Kate/Sawyer, but all the stuff in the first two seasons adds up to how awesome the payoff is S3. And you can not like Kate/Evie while also using your eyes to see that she had little to no chemistry with Jack Shepard. [Also, I might still be bitter about this, so I shall stop ranting while it is still possible...] I didn't really have much interest in Claire, myself.

I have a whole meta on Stefan!Elena versus Damon!Elena. I should get it out and polish it up tonight. You might find it interesting.

See, when IS was on Lost...I saw exactly *none* of Damon's magnetism, or flirtatious humor or anything he's got going on now. What I saw was exactly *annoying little brother who's really weird about his sister*. (Of course, she was really weird about him in the end, too.) Aaaaaand....I watched the show until Shannon died. And then I joined back in...I want to say mid-season 4? And watched it until the end. I...literally could not stand Evangeline Lilly (as an actress, not as a person). All I saw was smug. And that, for me, is the death toll for any supposed 'heroine'. I saw no chemistry with *anyone*. In fact, while I saw Josh Holloway have chemistry with everyone and everything (glasses, paperback novels, etc.), I just saw him sucked dry in his scenes with her.

I get the feeling I should stop there...

Just a few examples, something that's fun for me to ramble on for a Friday. (I used to love Fannish Friday Discussion at my journal, and I've been kind of resurrecting it, even though my journal is pretty dead these days. Whatever, it's fun for me.)

There was an lj called fannish5 that used to post general meta questions each friday and it was SUCH fun. Which is to say, I totally vote for resurrecting fannish friday discussion.

I remember that community! Yeah, no but when I was more active (which was pretty much 2006-2012) I was a pretty rabid poster, and I kind of tried to make a point of writing up a post on Fridays that had general fannish discussion, not just about one tv show or whatever. It was fast and loose, no organization really, and I've been doing it lately and I forgot how fun it was!
