I would definitely say something before it becomes something major. I once dated an amazing lady who I thought about 24-7, but didn't want to smother, so I initially only called her to set up dates and stuff. After a few weeks, she came out and told me that she liked to talk to her guy every day or two at least. I apologized and was happy to oblige. So could be something like that with this dude, or maybe he's just a laissez faire kinda mofo. But don't be afraid to casually bring it up. He definitely might see it as a good thing : )
