Surely you are covered by warranty usually it's free for a year from whoever you bought it from.

I haven't heard of anyone having major probs with ASUS.

But don't ever resort to getting a mac D= That would be uberfail.

My Mac has still got 2.5-3 hours battery life, nearly 2 years after I got it, and it hasn't been formatted once. :)

Mm, I've heard mixed responses about the battery life of the mac laptops.
But they're so shiny! :D

Since I forked out so much money for my current lappy, I'll be sticking with it at least until it becomes unbearable to use. Which, going by how long our previous desktops lasted for, will probably be another 2 years.

There's always upgrades, too. :) Macs are pretty weird to upgrade, but other laptops generally aren't!

...wtf >_>;
It really shouldn't have cost you any money, that just sounds like a dodgy part...and should really be covered under the warranty...
Ibook isn't too bad :P Well, em knows better than I do...XD
I found that Toshiba is pretty good :P but yeah...hopefully the laptop can be fixed :)

The thing is, when I called the Asus repair shop they said they would have to order the cord in. I really didn't want to wait to use my laptop, especially since I have an assignment due on Monday!

But as it turned out, it wasn't the cord I had surged - it was the freaking powerpoint DDD:
So I ended up going back to the shop and they refunded my money, minus a $15 restocking fee.
Very nice people, if I need anything else for this laptop, I'm definitely going to Portacom ^____^

I love my ibook, but that's mainly because of the OS. I've been through two powercords and my second battery is slowly on it's way out.
I've had mine for 2.5 years and have heard that my problems are in no way rare, but others have had their mac for a lot longer and not had any of these problems (plus I abuse mine pretty badly!)

I hope you don't have any more computer problems. :(

Me too!

I take very good care of my laptop - I spent over $250 for a backpack with a special pocket for a laptop to protect it and when I have to take it in the car, it goes in the front seat with a setbelt around it ^^;

Its been behaving itself recently though - I think its trying to win me back! :P
