Well, not literally.
Figures that after a few awesome days, something has to go wrong :(
So first, a hearty FUCK YOU to Asus computers, their incrediably shitty tech support and website that has been consistantly down ever since I got my goddamn laptop 7 months ago.
But first to the good stuff :D
On Sunday I caught up with Eden and, upon finding that there were no decent movies showing that neither of us had yet to see, we ended up singing Tripod songs and re-enacting bits from Toswinkle the Pirate. (I think we scared away the hotdog man!)
Then yesterday after babysitting the godchildren (we went for ice cream. There were puppies; hilarity ensued) I went to visit Kathleen at her baby sitting job. Which was very easy because the girl was an absolute sweetheart and tried to mimick what we said. (seriously, how can you not smile when trying to explain the concept of "sad face" to a girl who had just beat up two boys?)
Upon finally getting Kathleen to watch the Transformers movie (which was made of win and awesome) and reveling in the utter craptacular-ness of the animated cartoon, I went home.
This is where the day went from awesome to epic fail.
I had put the computer into standby mode so I could fiddle around on it when I got home. But after getting scolded by mum for coming home so late (it was about 1.30am?) I decided to just plug it in so it wouldn't be running off battery, and shut it down properly.
I accidently connected it up while it was still plugged in at the wall and I heard a "pop".
When I turned on the computer I noticed that despite the computer being plugged into the mains, the battery icon was telling me otherwise. I had fucking well surged the recharge cord, rendering it useless DDD:
So this morning I called the licenced Asus repair shop who were absolutely no help ("My co-worker's telling me you can get a replacement cord at some place called 'J Carr'? Does that mean anything to you?" No, it fucking well doesn't. Thanks, Work Experience Kid.)
I eventually found a place in town, so off I went. $130 later, I was home and happily plugged the cord in and proceeded to do some research for my torts assignment (which is an entirely different bucket of FAIL) and realised that with this new cord, the laptop battery does not recharge unless the machine is off. Yes, that's right - I can not recharge the battery and use the laptop at the same time anymore.
This sucks harder than Monica Lewinsky.
Oh, and despite being only 7 months old, the battery life has gone from about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to less than 1 1/2 hours. And I had to reformat the whole laptop only about 6 weeks after I got it due to some serious problems.
I think the next laptop I get will be a mac...
