This is great! My favourites were Answer, Jubilee and Handle with Care. Answer nearly had me in tears with the line "the memory of choosing not to fight", it's pretty much the perfect song for the incinerator scene. Handle with Care makes a great toy anthem, and the fact that a daycare centre is actually mentioned in the lyrics made me laugh :)
Yeah me too! I could've posted that "daycare" lyric here, but I think it's much better to stumble upon that oneself and LOL. XD
It was actually that lyric "the memory of choosing not to fight" that had me debating whether or not to include this song! Didn't everyone choose to fight for their own fates, in their own ways? Hmm. But the toys (especially Jessie) did show quite a bit of remorse for not following Woody's path, which I guess they all considered to be the most noble.
I had "Jubilee" stuck in my head all morning today. This is personally the one that almost makes me cry...
Because I was thinking of the incinerator scene "the memory of choosing not to fight" evoked the bit where they all realise that they can't fight any further and just choose to go out together ;_; It's not as if they could fight, but that moment was a hard one and especially when Woody's such an optimist under pretty much any circumstances.
I don't know if they'd consider Woody's path more noble, he just reacted by holding on tighter when the others reacted by choosing to let go.
Hah, I was all hung up on assuming that "choosing not to fight" meant that they HAD a choice. But you're right, choosing to accept that you don't have a choice is also significant, and it's a perfect lyric for Woody in that moment. Great observation. T_T
You know, I think you're right, in the end. Both choices are equally valid. For awhile, the toys express a lot of regret for not following Woody, once they realize that Andy actually does care about them. And so for awhile, Woody's path seems better, but then in the end it's "letting go" that is the most fitting choice for everyone. I love how they all seem to struggle with this choice, back and forth, throughout the entire film...
