At first, there was the feeling of standing at the edge of wakefulness. There was the sound of ticking in the distance; an ever-present sound Lelouch has become acquainted well with. It was yet another day in the state between life and death, a place that was arguably worse than hell itself. Lelouch had resigned himself to awakening to yet another

He had the faintest awareness of what was going on--he'd already found himself in the dreams of at least one other, after all--but it was Nunnally's voice that shook him out of his vague half-interest.
"We're not dead, older brother. We're alive... all because of you."
And that was when the scene came clear for him, and he blinked, startled, as he recognized Lelouch.

The pleasantry was not meant to last, of course, and while Lelouch had expected it to end abruptly and to easily give way something more like the nightmares that normally plagued his sleep, it still did not keep him from experiencing the sheer shock as he experienced what he imagined the denizens of Pendragon did as Schneizel unleashed the full fury of FLEIJA upon it. A circle of death, bright and blazing like the sun growing and consuming above them-- burning everything in a deafening high-pitched note that was mingled with screams.
It was, he realized, the screams of those around him, but his reactions came late as everyone, as Nunnally, dissolved into ashes right before his eyes ( ... )

It was the same dream he had had for a while now, in this place, this hell. A spectral him, a spectator, as a parody of his final public appearance played out. There were no prisoners being paraded down to the shooting range, no heavy presence of military; in fact, it was a joyous occasion with cheering crowds and smiles on everyone's faces. At the center of the crowd-covered street was the royal float where Nunnally sat. The speakers in the distance announced her arrival, "The 100th Empress of Britannia!" Whatever else was said to add necessary details to the event, Lelouch ignored, as he clawed his way into the crowd and towards the float. He'd seen this before, heard all of that! He had had enough of it! For all the effort required of him to reach Nunnally, nobody seemed to know, or to notice his presence; the reviled 99th Emperor of Britannia, the demon.
It was, ironically, a celebration to commemorate his deathIt all came into a grinding halt suddenly-- the music, the float and Lelouch snapped his head to the direction of the ( ... )
