Kindles seem like they would be great for travel - you could download multiple travel guidebooks, as well as any plane reading, and it would take up no more room than a cell-phone. Great for carry-ons.

I really cannot give up the whole "snuggled up with a good book" thing though. It's a tactile issue. Plus my eyes get tired. I'll probably do what I always do - I'll wait until almost everyone has one and THEN get one.

Also, I'm doing the fifty book challenge. I think I'm up to 7 or 8 now. Because if I can't fall flat on my face now, then when?!

You know...I wonder whether or not Kindles are capable of showing images, tho. If you had a nice travel book, could it translate all the pictures?

Supposedly, the e-readers aren't backlit so you don't have glare problems or get headaches when reading off them. They're emulate real paper and ink. (Don't know if this is true, I've never played with one)

LMAO...you're doing the fifty book challenge? That's awesome. It'd be around a book a week. You're behind, girl! Good luck to you! :P

PS: At some point, when everyone is settled and mostly out of school, we are thinking of forming our own book club. Maybe it could be a combination of in-person chatting (and eating) as well as journal-based discussion (maybe for folks who are mid-read and just have to talk about it RIGHT THAT SECOND) or are more long-distance or something. :)

I finished two books this week, three in the last month. I've started eating my lunch in my classroom because I can't stand the whining/complaining/general personality disorders in the teacher's lounge. It's helped quite a bit. Plus I always figure there's summertime...something about the summer always lends itself to curling up with a book.

I'd be interested in a book club, depending on who's in it...I've learned the hard way to pick your book clubs carefully, you don't want the wrong mix of people or too many crazies. It'd be fun to do it as a blog/journal - I know as well from experience that coordinating meetings can be INSANE.
