Dear Reader, forgive me, for I have sinned. It has been 15 days since my last entry.
I live yet.
Mostly dealing with school, forming friendships, and trying to finish my senior paper--perhaps only one of which is doing well at the moment.
I've been pretty bad and have been investigating e-Readers and Kindles. I kind of like the concept...being able to carry over 100 books with a total weight of 10 ounces. However, can digital replace paper? The feeling of a book in your hands as you flip pages and underline favorite passages? I'm unable to answer that, but Sony's newest e-Reader model looks pretty attractive, equipped with a stylus that can be used to highlight passages and take down notes/marginalia--which for me...is one of my favorite things to do. It can also do "searches" -- which I wonder, hilariously, if one could download a digital smut novel and then "search" for how many times "thrust" and "cock" appear. XD It'd be hours of fun, I'm sure.
As of this moment, the investment isn't worth it (the good readers cost about $350) and that's a LOT of books you'd be buying at a somewhat (but not always) discounted price, as well as a lot of free classics before the thing's paid for itself. Still, a few years down the line, a little extra competition, it may very well be the best investment I'll have made in a personal electronic device (barring a vibrator).
In about 2-3 weeks (yeah...too lazy to actually figure out the real date), I'll be fully graduated...contingent on my completing and turning in a senior paper on romance and erotica...which I may actually, a few years down the line, attempt to turn into a book. I have enough material...I just need the time to sort through it all and write it. Academia is actually lacking in this area of study and analysis, shockingly. I could try to write something that's more up-to-date and comprehensive.
Also...I know I don't have the effing time to be playing around, but I soooo want to do the
15000pages challenge again. It comes to about 41 pages a day. Almost 1300 pages a month. That's like, a book a week.
Finally, I've been spoiling myself like crazy for the past week and plan to do so until I graduate because DAMMIT, I DESERVE IT. This means, buying and eating foods that are horrible for me and buying books for myself that will expand my perspective and open my mind. I am so excited to be able to devote my time to learning on my own.
