Revisiting Nostalgia

OH FUCK YES.

Do you guys remember an old-school computer game called...Number Munchers? How about another game called Super Munchers?

I fucking found them. HAHAHAHAHA.

Number Munchers is an educational math computer game that will say things like "Equals 12" - and each square on the grid has addition, multiplication, division, and subtraction ( Read more... )

I sure do remember Number Munchers! Didn't Mrs. Kjeldseth (I remember her name but I can't remember my multiplication tables! :D) have an old Apple II in her classroom and whoever finished their work first would run like all shit over to it when they were done to play? Maybe Mrs. Dixon had one, too, I can't remember.

I hate time, though, seriously. It is the fire in which we burn because I just subconsciously assume that elementary schools are exactly the same as they used to be and kids are still playing those games. I wonder what they're actually using computers for in schools now?

I want to find out what the hell software we used to use in... Mumbleau's class? Was that his name? The super polished white computer lab, and those weird programs that taught reading and shit, with the all blue backgrounds and the creepy computer voices. And we all had to wear headsets. God, it was so 1992.

Are you flippin' serious? The exe files won't work with Vista at all? THAT SUCKS!!!

And Ro says he's never heard of Oregon Trail! T__T My heart broke a little at the sentiment.

The kids seem to really like Super Munchers. Zin was all problem solving the animals "hmm...animals that fly...most birds fly but some of them don't. Like the turkey. Or the ostrich."

Yeah...I think there was an old computer in Ms. Dixon's class...

I miss those reading computer programs! Lol...

The kids say they have some reading program, but not really any other educational game. I think they learn stuff about "how to use computers" like, they have a typing program that teaches them to be better typists and stuff.

Eh, it gave me some error message about running in full-screen mode. But it runs on Peanut! :D

Ro has never heard of Oregon Trail. :( :( :( :(

I should get them a copy of OT5; it's the buggiest but it's also the most epic. You can buy all your supplies individually and leave for the trail with $800 worth of candy and banjos if you want! XD

Wow, though. Learning to type is, no doubt, one hell of a valuable skill, but that's still sad.

Haha, that must've been Madrid, but I wrote it on the way to Lisbon. Glad you got the other one though, probably just took longer with the address off. Also, France is slow, so maybe that had something to do with it...? Meh. Good to know, though!
