The problem isn't the process itself - it's understandable and necessary. The problem is the people who make the decisions - they don't have the evidence or the expertise to make medical decisions, which is what this is.
But that's why there's an appeals process. They present their reasons for not allocating you points (you need to get enough points to be eligible for continued support). In your appeal you just go through countering each of their arguments. My appeal got accepted and I didn't even miss any benefit payments. :) you've probably got a stronger case than me, too.
