42/100: A Breath of Snow and Ashes, by Diana Gabaldon - I know, I've already read it, and not too long ago. But I was re-reading the rest of the series, and this is the most recent installment.
Besides, it's 900+ pages long. Surely I deserve some credit for that, right?

Two observations
1. It's really hard to get anything done on the computer when a kitten is attacking the screen and chasing the cursor.
2. Unlike bathing a small child, bathing your adult mother is frustrating, scary, and no fun.

41/100: The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini - Depressing as all get-out.
Beautifully written and very evocative, but still, depressing as heck. This is a book that features the rape of not one, but two, little orphaned boys, as well as the turmoil in Afghanistan for the last 30 years. Frankly, I don't see what all the fuss was about. Yeah, it's ( Read more... ) -
A Tree Blows In Brooklyn
Holy crap!
That F-2 tornado that hit Brooklyn this morning touched down 10 blocks from where my brother and his family live!
Yikes!
My SIL says that fortunately, there weren't any casualties, aside from about 200 uprooted trees, roofless houses, and pancaked cars.
She e-mailed me some photos she took near her apt. building:

Whenever I'm on the computer, typing or just noodling around, surfing, I tend to keep both arms on the desk. The desk doesn't have a keyboard tray-shelf-thingy, so the keyboard is right on the desktop itself.
