So I'm putting the baseboards back in my dining room (yay!) They're going in fine. I've even stumbled on a solution I can live with for the fact that the new floor is 3/16" higher than old, so that dining room baseboards no longer align with kitchen baseboards (which are actually sunken about a half inch below the level of the kitchen tile!). Wood glue fixes everything.

Though the more traditional answer, I believe (and the one for if you might ever want to take it off) is finishing nails.

I'm leaning toward liquid nails. The piece is so thin -- half an inch wide, and an eighth deep, that I just see it splitting when I try to drive a nail through it.
