I have a rough draft due for WWII hist next week, but it's more for my teacher looking it over and making sure I know how to write history papers. I bought a few books on Peleliu, though once again I didn't get Leckie's book because we're limited on using memoirs as sources :\
as well as websites since our teacher wants us only using 'scholarly ( Read more... )

NGL..I think Che Guevara is pretty damn foxy when he was young too. Also if you check out the movie Che starring Benico Del Toro..the scenes where Che is speaking at the United Nations I was like DAMMMMN. He looked good.

Everytime I watch GK I'm always falling for someone different, one viewing it could be Doc, the next Walt..but Ray definitely takes the cake. Glad to see that you like GK more this time around.

Oh god, Ray is such a scene stealer. I can't NOT look at him, in every scene.

Oh that's cool. I don't know which part I liked better 1 or 2, but I enjoyed the movie a lot, very dialogue driven. Hopefully you'll like it.

It is AMAZING.

He is, just, so freaking, CAN'T LOOK AWAY FROM HIM. He's so beautiful and sweet, and adorable. I just want to keep him in my pocket, somehow.

Ooo you have WWII class? I'd love to take that if it was in the college I used to go to. D: Sounds so fecking lovely <3 I am jealous. -loves WWII-

I've seen Generation Kill and Band of Brothers (Both sooooo goood) and like, I haven't seen The Pacific yet. They say I can't compare the two (BoB and Pac) though a lot of people say Pacific is better...not that I agree with that. I LOVE Band of Brothers. And yeah, Gen Kill has A LOT OF MAN LOVE IN THERE. Brad/Nate was just too obvious for me, though I see you don't ship it xD

Congrat on your ann <&hearts

It is, though it's mostly the Proffesor lecturing, and not much us getting to watch WWII stuff. Still, it's pretty funny to hear stuff like how Hitler based the invasion of Norway on a tourist brochure or about Amy Elizabeth Thrope and espionage.

Yeah, I don't like comparing the three past fandoms, because they all have their messages and they're all vastly different. I REALLY REALLY REC THE PACIFIC THOUGH, the episodes are uploaded on the_pacific and camp_toccoa if you ever feel like checking it out! It takes some getting used to, cause you're like following three different people and their companies/friends. BUT BUT YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GIVE IT A TRY ANYWAYS BECAUSE IT IS REALLY, REALLY GOOD. SERIOUSLY, IT'S WONDERFUL AND WORTH BEING CALLED BAND OF BROTHERS' SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR.

I'm sure I'll ship Brad/Nate eventually maybe, I was like that with Winters/Nixon too...ahahaha....

Thanks~ ♥

When writing history papers, JSTOR and Historical Abstracts are your friend. All those academic, peer-reveiwed journals/articles right at your digital fingertips. If you are really set on using Leckie as a source, his book Strong Men Armed does mention Peleliu and falls somewhere between memoir and history book. It has a listing of bibliographic sources, so that should cover it.

I have stupid amounts of love for Gen. Kill. Honestly, sometimes I just watch for my favorite Ray moments. Or the fact that Rudy could only be played by his real life self.

I think it is hard to compare the three in a lot of ways. BoB is the story of the Company, The Pacific is the story of the war and Gen Kill is pretty much a story of "nothing" reflecting the situation of the Recon Marines. I think Gen Kill is def. harder to follow sometimes b/c it does employ the M*A*S*H style of story-telling (well, the movie at least), where different convos. go on in the background around the main lines of the script.

Yeah, I'm using JSTOR for my last few sources, because I simply don't have any more time, I'll have to wait on getting Leckie's book till later cause lol, all these other books are so long. Urgh, I really wish I'd thought to look his books earlier because I probably wouldn't have had to go search onward like I did ( ... )
