I have a rough draft due for WWII hist next week, but it's more for my teacher looking it over and making sure I know how to write history papers. I bought a few books on Peleliu, though once again I didn't get Leckie's book because we're limited on using memoirs as sources :\
as well as websites since our teacher wants us only using 'scholarly approved sources' which made this hard for me and my wallet sfdsfs
Chinese midterm next week, English midterm finished, History and Film paper turned in, and now I need to read the source books I bought for my WWII hist term paper all five of them SDFSDFS, and Che Guevara's Motorcycle Diaries. I know this is weird, but can I just say, MR.GUEVARA is kind of a fox in his younger years. DAYUM SON.
I'm sorry to have left on such a weird note last week, I didn't have time to get back to like anyone because I barely had time to jump in and comment. I've been uh, everywhere? Work's been friggin' weird ever since we transferred computer systems, but we did get to leave early, have four days off, and uh ice cream sundaes? Not bad for a job that's only 20 hours.
And it was mostly because
flyingmachine brought it up a while ago, but I ended up just putting it on for just ANY NOISE, and actually ended up liking it a lot better this time around. I do miss the company watching it, but like this time around, the lack of PC-ness didn't get me, and I did pick up on a lot more things. I'm able to get more of who's who and just not blindly going "WAIT IS FICK THE REPORTER?"
Also the bromance, I can totally see it now, it's like EVERYWHERE. HOW DID I MISS THIS. It's like idk, a giant light-bulb went off in my head, and I was all "shit son, this is really good actually" and yeah. Gen. Kill's really grown on me, I can see how it got the fandom it got, it's pretty good. There are still parts I go ":\" at the COs, like Encino Man and Captain America, I like twitch the littlest bit. That and seeing the civilians getting killed so, easily, I do see why they made it as frank as they did, it wouldn't have worked any other way.
Nonsense aside, I have a stupid/dumb/affection for Ray/Walt/Brad. I don't even know why, cause I can't even ship Brad/Nate still, but skfsdf....Walt is so fucking beautiful--HOW DID I NEVER SEE HIM BEFORE. I really took a liking to him, Gabe, and Lilley. I'm not sure if I want to contribute fic for fandom, since I still have stuff sitting around for everything else, but I'm glad to see once again, that the fandom has pretty good 'quality-with-a-q' stuff.
That said, considering the structure of Gen.Kill and Band of Brothers, I can kind of see why, even though, arguably, The Pacific has less characters, it's been harder for some people in the fandoms to relate to. The Pacific just tries to show too much, with too many people. Gen. Kill stays with the Recon Marines (sister companies), Easy company in Band of Brothers, the Pacific has three different marines, with three different companies, that are kind of unrelated. It's a bit overwhelming, and as I discussed before with
skew_whiff Basilone's story line might as well have been a movie, he's certainly got an exciting enough life. Leckie faded out much too fast, and I'm usually biased towards Sledge, but if they're going to make it about him, then make it about him and just him.
I don't know, I'll probably be rewatching the Pacific when the dust from this paper settles, and I'll mostly form my a better, more cohesive idea about the three of them then. Hi, I just miss Pacific fandom, but I'm sure everyone's moved onto Inception/still bitter about fandom wank. Admittedly I was half-expecting a lock-down Pacific-style of Gen. Kill since most of these men are still alive but, fandom's pretty open and out there. Which to be honest, I was kinda happy for, because I didn't want to friend like five people to read a fic.
I'm still on the fence on doing the Halloween meme, cause while it WAS fun last year, and I do have a Band of Brothers picture in mind for my 'treat', it's not Halloween so yeah. Then again, I have plans for Halloween, but I also have an essay now and Chinese mid-term skdfsdfsd Uh, nothing else besides
binnin and mine's lj anniversary, we're going on 22 months ♥
And now back to Tosh.0 talking about the Human Centipede while reading up on Peleliu.
