Idea.

Since I will be in Las Vegas for my actual birthday this year I had an idea about treating myself to a new tattoo and getting it done there (provided I can save for it before then). However, there is two things that maybe put me off: where should I get it done and is it even worth it? Meaning, I'm sure Vegas shops probably charge more since they're ( Read more... )

not sure about the vegas ting, but wen it comes to tattoos, i heard one of the best things u can do is wait a year (or some amount of time given to think). if you still want that same tattoo, then you should get it.

The idea I have for my tattoo I've had for several years now, so I'm confident I'll quite happy whenever I do get it. :)

i'm gonna say it was near Caesar's Palace, they had a shop that was decent, but they are very pricey. i wanted to get one but for the small one i wanted, i mean small like 5 little puppy paws, they wanted 150 bucks. also, in hard rock hotel is Hart & Huntington, pink's husband's shop. they had a tv show on A&E... called inked. they seemed to do nice work but it was pricey too.

i think we're going back in may for our honeymoon. it's so much fun but hell on your legs! lots of walking. be safe! good luck! and have fun! if you like Italian food i highly recommend Casa di Amore (2850 E. Tropicana Avenue, Las Vegas, NV). OMG they picked us up in a limo at our hotel and it was delicious!! best chicken parmesan i've ever had! also the Burleque X show at the Flamingo was A+!

Yeah, I'd go to Hart & Huntington for kicks and look around, not to get a tattoo.

Thanks for the tip on the grub! I'll definitely have to check that out.

You're going to pay more if you go to a shop on the Strip or in a hotel. Hart & Huntington are great, but they've also got a TV show, so they can afford to charge buckets of money for their work.

There are some great shops off the Strip. I'd suggest Skin Factory, because every time someone on the Vegas comms asks about tattoos, they get namechecked. Also, I'm thinking about going there for my next one.

law_oneofmany has a good point, though. You should make sure that you really want your tattoo, because it's something that you'll have for the rest of forever, unless you decide to pay for laser tattoo removal (which is both painful and expensive). Not lecturing, just suggesting. :) ♥

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely check them out. :)

Don't worry, the tattoo I have in mind is an idea I've had for several years, so I'm confident I'll be happy with it for years to come. But thank you, I appreciate people looking out for me. <3

If you're gonna get some ink in Vegas...STAY OFF THE STRIP! Ignore going to a shop called Diversity, way too expensive. One thing you can do is ask locals where they got their ink, it wouldn't hurt to get their opinions, and you may find a ma and pa shop with a good rep and reasonable prices.

That's what I figured. I'll definitely do more research and ask people their opinions. :)

Well i have a tattoo that i love and that means a lot for me. My only advice is to do something that has a meaning, it's going to stay on your skin for a life time! :)

The first tattoo I ever got is a butterfly. I was 14 and just walked into the shop (mum and I were in Hawaii at the time) and I saw a butterfly I liked. I had no real idea what I wanted, just that I wanted a tattoo. Anyway, more than 10 years later I still love my butterfly to bits. :) It's my only tattoo that was more 'impulse' rather than having any personal meaning. I guess the meaning behind it is more the the experience that I had getting it and not the actual image. My other 6 have a lot more personal meaning and are special to me. :) I put more personal thought beforehand into them than the butterfly.
