I've noticed a (perhaps inevitable) shift toward the triangular in post-EW fic, as it sinks in that Jack has been left with the two members of the team he most cares for and who appear to love him the most in turn. This is an understated and lovely take on that.

I very much second what rabecka wrote above. It's intriguing to think of the burial as not simply traumatic, but also a relief for Jack. He spends most of S2 trying to save his team members and he simply can't -- in part because his past keeps catching up, in part because he can't just will them alive and safe. There's another set of potentially intriguing parallels with the Doctor there, thinking back to I-came-back-for-you. (But this is a richer and subtler text, IMO.)

If it wasn't for Rhys, I would definitely be exploring more of the J/G/I angle. :)

I think with the burial thing, it's another case of two conflicting feelings being present at once. Yes, it was traumatic, but, as I said above, I can also see it becoming an almost Stockholm Syndrome type thing -- I mean, the way things are now, Jack has spend most of his existence underground. And even though I personally believe that he was unconscious/dead for most of it, and only semi-conscious when he was alive, it must have had some sort of psychological effect on him beyond just claustorphobia or things that you'd easily expect like that.
