Wow, that's so quiet and lush and pretty. Oh, Jack. I seem to have a lump in my throat now.

Oh, wow. That's lovely. *wibbles* Wish I could leave a better comment; this one isn't worthy of such a sweet, sad piece.

Thank you for the beta credit, but you sent me this and it was perfect. All I did was praise it!

I love the quietness, and the way Jack makes that shift back to what passes for normal. This is such a lovely piece.

Well, you did point out that one typo, which I'm sure I would have missed on my own, and that would have been terribly embarrassing. :P

And thank you, I'm glad you liked it.

This is stunning. The whole thing paints a picture - visually and emotionally.

He feels the earth against his palm, and for a moment, he wishes he could return to it and that almost endless sleep, where even dreams of those he hadn't been able to save had stopped plaguing him

And somehow, even though it's a lie, that promise is enough - enough to stop him from looking back to the woods, to the earth, to the sleep that will always evade him.

I wouldn't have thought it possible to portray Jack's burial in the earth as something he could find himself longing for. I'm not sure what to say except that it's amazing and just gorgeously written.

Thank you for the lovely comment-- I'm so glad you liked it. :)

I know I read one fic once-- and stupidly I didn't save it to my memories-- where Jack always carried a handful of dirt in his pocket after Exit Wounds, as a sort of dependency thing, and I thought that was very powerful-- the idea that his PTSD manifests itself not as claustrophobia, but as almost a kind of Stockholm Syndrome with the earth.

(And btw, if anyone reading this knows where the fic I'm talking about is and could provide a link, I'd be very grateful. :))

I know the story you mean, but I don't have it bookmarked either. You could try twstoryfinder
