Photos of New Zealand for Christchurch
As part of the help_nz, I am offering up to five 6"x8" matte prints of photos I have taken in the South Island of New Zealand, in 2007 and 2010/11.
These photos were taken with a Canon 350D dSLR, in most cases using a Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 lens (although a couple were taken with a Canon 70-300mm f/4-5.6). They were taken as RAW files (a large file format that retains all colour information) which were then converted to *.jpeg, and they have been edited using RAW Shooter Essentials 2006 and GIMP 2.
Each print will be framed by a matting board that will fit a 8"x10" frame, and posted via Australia Post airmail. I would have liked to offer a frame as well, but that would have made postage costs prohibitive -- in the end, it's cheaper for people to buy their own frame (you can get very nice inexpesnive ones from your local discount department store) than it is for me to send one to you.
Bidding will start at $15 US/AUS (basically the US and Aussie Dollars are about the same right now, so it doesn't matter which you use). In accordance with the rules, each bid must be AT LEAST $1 higher than the previous bid, and the top five bidders (if I get that many) will win a photo of their choice (photos can be found below). In addition to this, however, I am also offering, privately, to provide a desktop wallpaper of ANY of the landscape-oriented photos below for the price of a Help NZ v-gift on LJ (that is -- $2.99). I will make this wallpaper in your chosen resolution (or resolutions, if you want to use it on multiple computers). I am doing this via v-gift because this is the easiest way to verify that a donation has been made, and it'll mean that the people who do this won't have to go through the rigmarole of sending me receipts, redacting their names, etc -- I'll know you've donated, because the v-gift arrives in my account! If you are going to do this, please leave a comment in THIS POST telling me which picture you would like and the resolution that you will need.
