I have never been so proud to say that I pay taxes AND tuition AND major in English!
We actually just talked in *my IDOL* Katie Kane's class last week about how, unlike women and racial minorities, queer authors have been an integral part of the literary canon since before there WAS a literary canon...but teachers kept saying that for one reason or another those author's sexuality just didn't matter and wasn't relevent to the text. Not *my idol* Katie Kane, though. She looooves talking about sexuality, particularly the queer sort.
Why is "sexual identity" something that needs quotes around it? And where can I take a class that teaches me to be a gay man? (All of my short stories are already from the gay male point of view for some reason...might as well do the thing properly.) When are you coming home?
i really like the sensation that reading that article gives me, that academia is playing a massive joke on the reactionary right. and they're totally falling for it.
