year-in-review
Here's what I said last year (you can find that post here):
Hopefully to complete in 2007:
- Eowyn's Funeral Raiment and Green Gown - on hiaus
- Harry Potter University Student
- CanCan Ensemble
- Star Wars CanCan
- Guinevere's Blue Dress (Blouse)
- Little C's Annual Halloween Costume
And original designs:
- Rust-Colored Gown and "Pretty In Pink" - refit/rework
- Mom's Red Velvet Cloak and Gold Gown
And what really happened in 2007:
Costumes
- Eowyn's Funeral Raiment and Green Gown - on permanent hiatus until I find where my LOTR costume muse has flitted off to
- Harry Potter University Student - this has technically been finished for a while, but I finally did everything I wanted to it so it's officially done!
- Harry Potter POA-Style Uniform - still collecting materials for the robe; I acquired some wool from my step-grandma to make a second skirt
- CanCan Ensemble - finished the overskirt and underskirt! I think this was the largest project of 2007 for me...approximately 100 hours once everything was said and done; I also made a cute little hat to match
- Star Wars CanCan - I'm making a corset this semester for an independent study that can double for this costume; I still haven't been able to find an underskirt fabric that I'm happy with
- Padme's Picnic Gown Blouse - finished! I need to get better pictures of it though
- Guinevere's Blue Dress (Blouse) - *still* in the muslin stage; I've had no time (or inspiration)
- Maureen Johnson from RENT - finished, accessories and all! all those grommets nearly killed me
- Little C's Annual Halloween costume - I actually didn't make him a Halloween costume this year; instead he wore Captain Jack again
Originals
- Rust-Colored Gown and "Pretty In Pink" - still need to be refitted; I'm thinking about redesigning the bodice of the Rust-Colored Gown
- Mom's Red Velvet Cloak and Gold Gown - both of us have had no time or inspiration to start this project; someday...
Not on the list for 2007:
Costume
- Cinderella's Ball Gown - for my baby cousin's 2nd birthday and she still fit into it for Halloween 2007
Original
- Gray Vest - utilizing the leftover fabrics from Little C's Captain Jack costume
- "Vintage" Black and White Coat - from fabric given to me by my step-grandma and utilizing other materials from the stash; total cost: $0.25 for one black button; need to get pictures of this
- Morgan's OMG!Pink Dress - from fabrics found on the clearance rack and as a trial run for her birthday dress
- Morgan's Garden Party Dress - made for her 3rd birthday
- Morgan's Black Cape - using fabric leftover from Beth's Gothic Princess Cape and made in a few hours as a surpise for Beth :)
And still planning:
- Danielle's "Princess" Gown with Overdress and Accessories - still researching
- Satine's Gothic Tower Dress - no further progress made; I need to finish other projects before even thinking of starting something new
- Dorme's EP2 Goodbye Gown - gathering materials for the corded petticoat; I'm making a corset this semester for an independent study and it can double for this costume :)
Teaching both semesters and traveling during the summer sucked up my time yet again. *le sigh* I want to continue on the same projects for 2008 and actually make enough progress (a.k.a. finish stuff) that I can finally start something new! Here's to a more productive 2008!
