I promised a few Xena recs in honor of ralst/s Xena month (which is something I can ALWAYS get behind):

What I Did for My Summer Vacation by AndiM is Mature, uber. Very well-written story about a group of archaeologists living and working in Athens. Tristan is a gorgeous rogue and Kate is her reliable, serious sidekick. This is really a romance, no big plot points, but it's well-written and has a lovely flow to it and the way these two get together feels very real: it's as much a shock to the two of them as it is to the reader. It just feels right.
Lucifer Rising by Sharon Bowers is a strong NC-17 for sex and violence. Xena is a notoriously ruthless drug dealer and Gabrielle is a young reporter trying to make her mark. Novel-length romance and story full of twists and surprises.
Conqueror
Shadows of the Soul and its WIP sequel, Queen of Hearts by Melissa Good are NC-17. I know everyone loves Melissa Good's Tropical Storm, but I'm completely hooked on her Conqueror stories. Good is a skilled writer and her Conqueror is like no one else's. Ruthless and isolated she is a product of her violent childhood and Good pulls no punches as the slave and the Conqueror are brought together. Her Conqueror's violent nature isn't exactly tamed by the slave, but it is...softened a bit. But her merciless wit is still as lethal as ever. There are numerous linkage problems in both, so beware that you may have to experiment (changing spellings and numbering in the URL) to get to the next page. I'm so hooked on the sequel that I bookmark the 404 page for the next installment and then check it relentlessly as Good's Xena and Gabrielle overcome insurmountable odds. It starts a little slow and rambles a bit, but when it gets going the action is unbelievably good and literally edge-of-the-seat stuff. I look forward to the next installments more than I do new BSG eps.
