More often than not, there just wasn't anything to do around here, something that Jenny had gotten used to but was no less frustrated by. The few classes she was taking were a nice break, giving her a way to keep herself busy without losing her mind, like she would have otherwise. Wrapped in a white shift dress, Blair sat with her knees to her chest on a beach blanket. The thing had been kind of stiff and atrocious when she had pulled it from the clothes box, but a little over two years later it had softened. She had grown attached to the tacky little thing, not that she would ever admit it.

Lifting her head from the book resting on the blanket behind her, she offered Jenny a slight smile.

"Hello, Little J."

While Jenny felt that she had mostly outgrown the nickname, being now older than Blair had been when it was given to her, she was the one person from whom she didn't mind it anymore, either. Growing up and growing out was one thing, but others never changed, and she doubted she would ever entirely stop seeking Blair's approval.

"Enjoying the weather?" she asked, half-teasing, knowing full well that this was nothing out of the ordinary. That was half the problem, really.

"Yes, for the most part."

She hadn't yet decided if she preferred the island's seeming endless summer to the casual heated elegance of a summer in the Hamptons. One day she would decide, hopefully once she was back in the Hamptons. The corners of her lips turn up though, twisting into a bit of a smirk.

"It could be better though, couldn't it?"

"What, you mean something other than incessant sun and heat?" Jenny let out a laugh, raised an eyebrow, not because she didn't think there was anything better, but because she had long since gotten used to the idea that it was impossible. All the hope in the world wouldn't change the nature of this place, and there was no point railing against it. "In theory. Probably not in actual practice."
