More often than not, there just wasn't anything to do around here, something that Jenny had gotten used to but was no less frustrated by. The few classes she was taking were a nice break, giving her a way to keep herself busy without losing her mind, like she would have otherwise. It wasn't much - she could have been taking more - but in the absence of requirements, she'd developed an aversion to most standard academic classes, seeing no use in things like math or science or English when she wasn't going to use them in the first place. Emma disagreed, and for that, she was considering taking on more next semester, but for now, she was glad to keep most of her time her own, even if that left her with too much of it.
There were only so many times a girl could go to the beach before it got really old, really fast, but she wanted even less to stay inside, homework done and the dress she'd been working on finished. The beach may have lost some of its appeal, but it was still better than being bored. Bikini-clad and squinting against the sun, she'd stretched out on a towel, her iPod beside her, one headphone in her ear. She hadn't even been paying much attention until she caught sight of a figure in her peripheral vision, and turning to find Blair not too far off, lifted one hand in a wave, calling out a quiet, "Hey." Their relationship had always been a precarious one, even here, if less so, but there was nothing wrong with a little company.
