That's a cool interpretation, I hadn't heard that before. It allows for free will, yet also election, showing they don't necessarily have to be in conflict. The ship analagy was pretty cool too. I'd be interested in finding out what type of tradition the person comes from.

yeah, i thought it was cool too. i've always believed in free will (because like I said in the comments of my last post, we can't really love God without having the choice), but for me, there's no ignoring the passages that talk about God's elect. For a long time, I just put it down on the list of "things Sarah will never understand in this life." but you know me, i can't stand NOT understanding for very long. i wasn't looking for exactly this but it was exactly what i needed anyway. it came after a LONG time searching but it was way worth it.
