usenet finally is dead, film at eleven

Jan 29, 2011 13:29

i just realized that i never set up a newsreader to read usenet on this laptop.

i've had this laptop for a year.

(also, is it me or is livejournal down in some weird way--i can't see anyone's userpics, and this screen to write a post is completely different and lacking all images.)

usenet, geeky

It's not just you; they had a hiccup earlier preventing userpics and customized style sheets from loading, but it seems to be resolved now.

I haven't used a newsreader for a few years either... I use Google Groups to read soc.bi these days.

Did you know Piglet and I are plotting a soc.bi 20th birthday party in NYC in September?

If I'm at home I read it on my desktop system using the venerable Netscape 7.2, and if I feel like doing it when I'm away I use my OLPC XO laptop to telnet to my shell account.

I haven't opened up Agent in 6 months, and not read soc.motss on Google Groups either. As my desktop machine is now awaiting wiping and installation of Windows 7, I suspect that I won't be reading soc.motss again.

All the people I enjoy are on LJ or on FB. One less thing to do each day: read soc.motss.
