Some thoughts regarding the upcoming Golden Compass movie…

I watched the trailer for it a number of weeks ago, and since then I’ve been having mixed feelings about it. On one hand, it looks like its going to be super mega badass (at least as far as the visuals are concerned), but I can’t for the life of me see Nicole Kidman playing Mrs. Coulter. From what I remember, the first two books are each about 300 pages and the third one is 450. The lady who cuts my hair still hasn't returned them to me, so I can't check to make sure. I could be wrong. I don't remember them being very long.

The trilogy is VERY good. The first book is great, but things start to get really interesting in the beginning of the second one. After finishing the third I went on a rabid crusade for Pullman's other work. Before that, I did read books occasionally (mostly mythology), but at the time I was more interested in drawing. He and Bram Stoker are what turned me over to fiction.
