I don't know how to begin talking about how frustrated I am about work. My old co-worker Steve came to visit Korea, and we went out for dinner and drinks, and all we could manage to talk about was work, and how frustrated we all are. That does not sound like a healthy work environment at all to me. Are there other schools in your area/city that you could apply to work at?

Congrats on your wedding!! Er, upcoming wedding! I don't know if you've lost perspective with your job, and I also think that using The Grapes of Wrath as a dipstick for how much suffering you should be able to endure is thoroughly depressing and perhaps not healthy. I think Mr. Steinbeck would agree with me.

I think you're right to be frustrated with the situation, at least as you've described it. Maybe it's just that I'm very American, but I think vacation is entitled to me if I work hard and loyaly for a company. What's also entitled to me? Stability, and to not be insulted by my boss on a daily basis (or EVER, ideally). These are things that I think are due to me if someone expects me to be a good employee. Work is not a one way highway.

I hope everything works out for the best! I still think you're one of the brightest, loveliest people I know, so I both hope for and expect good things for you.
