How about a giant strawberry?

So, one of the reasons I'm feeling massively accomplished this week is that I finally got my welding project done for the sculpture class.

Cute project. I like the clean symmetric lines and simplicity of the whole piece. I'm sure it was much more difficult that it looks.

Thank you very much!

I couldn't believe how time-consuming it was, actually, considering how simple my concept was. About half the class, who were doing more complicated projects, didn't have theirs done in time for the class critique. Definitely something to keep in mind in the future ...

Ooh, nifty! very nice shapes, especially the little...bristly leaf whatsits at the strawberry's stem, and the curlicues at the ends of the vines...

Thank you! :)

I'm really kind of delighted with how sprawling and viney it turned out. Just like what I'd envisioned! I think it'll look quite nice in the garden this summer.

That looks pretty awesome! How much does it weigh?

Thank you! :) *hugs*

It's actually not very heavy at all. It's incredibly unwieldy, though -- the stem and leaves stick out so far that there really is no easy way to carry it, and getting it through doors is a giant pain.

So, where's the cream for the strawberry?

SRSLY, it's awesome!

Hee! Thank you! :)

One of the early ideas was to cover it with paper maché and then turn it upside down and pour something thick, like wet plaster or tar, so that it would look like it was dipped in chocolate. That fell through for logistical reasons, though ...

That's wonderful! I love the idea of using it as a trellis.
