Blood/Water: Outtakes

Hmm. I haven't quite got my act together this week, my mind has been filtering a lot of junk lately. And since I hate to disappoint friends and lurkers, especially since I promised I would upload chapters of Blood/Water every week... *sweat drop* Here, have some outtakes instead. I hope they keep you from biting off my head

Yep, I disagree about your omissions...which you may have guessed already since I told you about how I think it's bullshit to take away character development. I always view character development as the most important aspect in a story. But, hey, I can see why you'd cut these out, though, in support of character development, I think adding depth to characters makes the detecting more interesting and gripping, since why should I care if the case is solved if I don't care too much about the characters involved in the case?

Anyway, I like the first cut scene mainly because I find it interesting how Ichigo thunders at Orihime for taking one look at Rukia and deciding she's innocent. Isn't that exactly how Ichigo determines Rukia's innocence in the first chapter? Hahaha

A lot of hardcore mystery fans would disagree with you about character development not being necessary -- gasp! -- as long as the case is solved. I've never been one for the "pure puzzle" type of mystery but yeah they do exist.

The scene where Ichigo thunders at Orihime is actually a continuation of my homage to Strong Poison, because in that book, Lord Peter actually knows the woman who gives the "hung jury" vote. But I cut it out because... I cut it out. Hmm.

So you think I should keep the tape recorder scenes? More hmm. Lots of other people (in the comments below) seem to agree with you. Do you think it's too late to add them on at this point? I mean, the fic's been up for weeks. Of course I could always rearrange chapters over at the Great Cesspool and MediaMiner. It seems like such a shame to confuse people, though. Hmm. Or do you think a note on the latest chapters mentioning the edits should suffice?

Hmm, no character development makes it sound boring. I'm much more interested by character motives than scanning the text for that one clue. Also, what about unsolved mysteries? Actually, I think real cases, like that of Jack the Ripper, are more intriguing because there isn't really an answer. Much more mysterious. And realistic.

I think what I was driving at before was that you should keep the tape recorder scenes. Though, it sure would be a hassle for you to insert them at Fanfiction.net, considering that you have separate chapters for interludes.

Really like the Ichigo section-- especially that reference to wandering disembodied souls :-), as well as his refusal to listen to Rukia's voice in bed-- that's a rare kind of respect, I think.

ShunNao was great too-- the Matsumoto bra compartment thing was hilarious, and I'll never tired of him saying Real Men Wear Pink! :-)

Well, I think probably part 2 and 3 would have inserted fine into the doc-- part 2 definitely, part 3's a little more difficult to gauge, since perhaps the news that Isshin delivers that Shunsui has turned up has more impact on its own without the preceding section. But definitely part 2, because it does tell a lot about Rukia's and Ichigo's developing relationship.

XD Ichigo seems to be shy of girls in general -- he freaks out at all mention of kissing and nudity. It can be seen in two ways: 1) he's immature or 2) he thinks it's something special. So yeah, I hope I got that bit right.

Oh... I actually saw a bra like that when I was out bra shopping the other day. OMG it's hilarious, seeing a bra with a secret zipper compartment between the cups. XD

I think I am going to listen to everyone's advice! I'm going to have to edit my entries, but what the hell. XD You're not the only one who really liked the Ichigo and Rukia parts...

As a stupid newbie writer I would say you could have easily left it all in. The tape recorder sections though are probably the most missed entries. I REALLY liked these and think they were worthy character developments for both characters. Besides it was so sweet seeing Ichigo fall in love listening to Rukia's voice.

I'd love to have seen the Nanao/Shunsui left in just because I love their interaction in your deleted section.

The Orihime section was easiest to understand why it was left out, but it was still so cute.

The fact that it's your story though means you get to make these decisions and we don't. :D

I love love love my little interlude for Nanao and Shunsui too, but at time it just seemed more dramatic, to end one part with the reader not knowing what was going to happen to them... and then for the reader to learn, at the same time as Ichigo, that they did wash up on the shore. Argh its so hard trying to figure these things out!

I know it's been said, but... I really love the part with the tape recorder. A bit more insight to this detective and his character. :p

But I see what you're saying- trying to move on with the story itself, but also trying to keep the characters- it does sound challenging. I like how you're doing it, though.

Thanks XD Yeah, it's been difficult trying to balance things out. Hmm. Maybe I got overzealous by cutting out the Rukia-Ichigo scenes. I think I'll be spending some time editing my story here and at ff.net (and MediaMiner too) to include them in the right place. Waah.

Hopefully others will think the insight is important too...? :D If not the suggestiveness of Ichigo needing a cold shower after just thinking of Rukia's voice. Heh.

Lurker alert! I've come out of lurking (if you remember me with almost the same ID name in fanfic). Gah, you've got me so addicted to this. Not like I was not already to your work in the first place.

Rukia and Ichigo must have some psychic power. I wouldn't have checked the battery. =)
