Not tonight, dear, I'm disgusted.

I finally got around to reading chapters 304 and 305 of Bleach manga. I've been putting it off, really. Over the holidays, I wasn't in the mood for seeing Nemu being raped, be it literal or symbolic.

Are you ready for more intellectual meandering? )

I was quite underwhelmed by Nemu's rape. From how people were going on about it, I expected something disgusting. Instead, nothing. On the other hand, I detest how Kubo has done a James Bond to rape. In a James Bond movie, people get shot all the time, but there's never any blood; the movies don't show what happens when you get shot. Since Nemu apparently died (I'm expecting Kubo to pull something out of his ass and bring her back, though), he isn't showing the emotional damage of rape, which is much more serious than the physical pain.

Ah, I don't want to talk about that scene any more. It makes me angry that people find it disturbing since I find it so tame in comparison to other stuff I've read.

My biology class didn't have anything that...fun in it for human anatomy. All they did was give me a pig fetus and made me cut it up.

I'm not exactly surprised you were underwhelmed by Nemu's rape, I think you read more racy stuff on a regular basis. (I remember your synopsis of a plotline in Hot Gimmick. Ew.)

Still, I agree with you, KT didn't show much on the emotional damage -- it was more on Mayuri's disdain his toy was played with. I guess that's what pissed me off.

Pig fetus for human anatomy class? Very CSI. But playing with a pretty sculpture would be more fun.

Incidentally, last night I actually turned on the TV and got majorly sucked into something on Animax. When they finally showed the credits, it turned out to be Fate/Stay Night. :) It was a total shipper episode, though, between the guy named Shiro and a creepy blonde named Saber. The dialogue was ok (for translation) but the dub was just horrible.

Oh, Hot Gimmick isn't very racy. The near-rape scene was about as far as that series went. Still, my favorite manga of all time is Berserk, and that series begins with the main character having sex on the first page; it turns out he's doing it with a demon, so he kills her on the next page. Aw yeah. Best start I've ever seen for a series, although Elfen Lied's blood bath is pretty tight ( ... )

I was disgusted with the idea of what happened to Nemu but the way Kubo showed it definitely wasn't as awful as it could have been.

Yeah, the near-rape scene in Hot Gimmick wasn't all that racy but for other reasons, Hot Gimmick makes me want to vomit. Hatsumi is one of the most worthless, spineless, unappealing female leads I have ever had the displeasure of reading. I couldn't stand her but I liked the side characters like Azusa and Shinogu. I just stopped reading after a while though, I couldn't stand Hatsumi's stupid passivity any longer.

I watched a few episodes of F/SN but I didn't like Shirou at all, I did like Rin, but never finished watching it.

I wish I had that Eco book, I keep looking through bookstores here for his stuff, but they're really weak when it comes to classics (only the popular, curriculum stuff -_-). I fear I shall have to rely on Amazon *meh ( ... )

The Eco book is new, it's got a 2007 copyright, and cost me an arm and a leg. Still, it's worth it. :)

Yeah, I agree, I think I find it disturbing because Bleach is supposed to be for teens but right now it's gone beyond its rating. I think Adam's just read so much hardcore stuff he's a bit blase about these things ( ... )
