I want to read this series now.
I haven't read Shoujo/Josei in a while. :DDD
Then again, I'm not really your typical Shoujo/Josei girl, but aghhhh, it sounds so tempting. I'm kind of worried that I might fandom hor and kill my focus on writing. DX

Well, I'm not your typical shoujo/josei girl either. This is only the second manga/anime series I've read that falls in this category. I'm a guy's guy, I mean, I'm a girlish guy, no, I mean, whatever. (Checks for girly bits.) Yes, I'm a girl. I prefer violent stuff -- like Alan Moore's Watchmen and The Godfather and stuff like that. But sometimes it's nice to get in touch with teh girlie side... :)

George Lucas got it wrong. The real Dark Side is pink and fluffy and smells like a bubble bath.

Fandom hor?

If I wanted to kill my focus on original writing,... oh, wait, I already did. :)

See how tired I am? The number of typos in my comment is enough to trample a herd of elephants. Scary.

You read Diane Ackerman too. Wow.

I finished the anime. I don't have the love for the couple you do. Chiaki irritates me. I got the warm fuzzies remembering playing in ensembles, though. And I fell in love with Rachmaninoff again--and I played that Mozart oboe concerto once, transcribed for flute, with piano accomp at a wedding (the couple is divorced now, haha)... I'm so reading the manga now but it won't be the same without the music.

Not in a shoujo mood but I liked that old feeling of competing and music and everything. I always felt stupid and inferior, very Nodame like in that I just wanted to enjoy it--and when I beat some girl in some tri-state competition she burst into tears and went "what does this mean for my career?" I was all--eh? I never thought about next week.

I was in love all the time, though. Usually with some gay unavailable guy. Lol.

Yeah, I read Diane Ackerman a long time ago... she's so cool :)

I can undesrtand why Chiaki would irritate people. Right now I am enamoured of difficult fictional men. (In real life, however, most likely I'd chew his head off.)

I guess it helps reading the manga with classical music -- although I most of the pieces they mention, only one or two representative pieces per composer.

And yeah, this tone-deaf, can't-play-an-instrument person envies you. Ahh! Emsemble playing! Suddenly I remember one of my ex-boyfriends who could play the violin, the piano, and a dozen other instruments. He had a larger ego than Chiaki's, too. It's horrible being the designated groupie in a relationship. No wonder it didn't last.

Well... at least he wasn't gay. :)

NOT GAY IS SO GOOD. I hung around (and dated) so many gay guys) that sometimes I look at my husband and go "wait a minute, you're heterosexual." I forget--like the other day he was watching boxing.

Ugh.

I'm downloading Rachmaninoff now. I used to hate him bc my mother played him all the time and I thought it was OVER emotional. I was a classical-baroque girl. Ha. That's changed.

I love reading your posts! And I think NCIS is far behind on scanlations now. I don't know if any other groups have picked it up, though...

Veering off-topic here, I have another recommendation for you, an anime film this time. I thought of sharing it with you when I rewatched it a while back but never got around to it. You've probably heard of it:

Howl's Moving Castle

(Unfortunately, I can't find any other place that streams the entire thing in one video, and it's also in English. But Miyazaki films in English aren't too bad.)

*hugs*

Thanks. Maybe I'll start watching the anime... or maybe I will catch up on Bleach. *shamefaced grin* Yeah, haven't actually watched the last few eps yet. I'm not in the mood for Kaien angst.

I'll add Howl's Moving Castle to my to-watch list, no matter what Adam said below :)

Dedicated to my stalker. Hi, kaya, if you're reading this. Now who's watching who?! Me! adam_epp January 3 2008, 07:40:42 UTC
Ach, I don't think I could read that series if it has art like that. In some Shoujo (I'm looking at you, Fruits Basket!), I just can't stand the art. Need... crazy...realistic...proportions:

Mmm, Vagabond.

As for shoujo, I've been liking the series Special A...so far, in the first six volumes. For whatever reason, I tend to start hating most Shoujo, female leads (I'm looking at you again, Fruits Basket!). Why do they have to be so ridiculously self-sacrificing? And often dumb? And, yet, every guy ends up liking her, anyways, instead of some other female character I find superior. I find it all very vexing and difficult to relate to either gender, as a result ( ... )

Steffi-twin here. Too lazy to log in.

Just as I was about to read more IchiRuki fanfiction (namely, rukiahana's 15 Minutes of Reality), I see your entry. So now I'm going to continue reading Nodame Cantabile from where I'd left off. Chapter 67. Ganbatte, Steffi!

You know what'd set me off? The kissing scene. Yes, I am a sucker for both embracing and kissing. Now, if my laptop's battery can last me for an hour or so more...

Hiya, twin :)

I read the update of that story too. :) It's cute. I'm not into soccer (football) but I like the AU idea of Ichigo as a kick-ass player.

I wish it was finished, though. I get impatient with unfinished stories... and they are so hard to recommend, I don't like anyone else sharing my kind of frustration!

I think we are both intensely mushy girls at heart. *grin* Ahh, Chiaki...
