Your news of Poldark may finally persuade The Spousal Unit to invest in Netflix, and stop wasting our life watching freaking Dragnet on the local nostalgia chanel.
I find myself, again, longing for a nice dress; unfortunately, what's available is not inspiring, no matter what the price: this is just a bad era for dresses. It does save me budget but leaves me with a formless longing that chickens cannot fill.
Julia, nor sheep, unless I find a truly masterful fleece-processor
I can't find anything I want to read either. I just finished Simon Winchester's tiny book about Lewis Carroll and his photographs of Alice Liddell and have no idea why it was written or why I read it.
I'm considering going old school noir with some Raymond Chandler, but it might be too hot.
In reverse order: Poldark, a 1970s British series aired here on Masterpiece Theatre, was soapy good times -- set in 18th-century Cornwall, with a dashing, scarred, angsty hero, a redheaded servant-heroine, skulduggery, tin mines, and all sorts of fun. :-)
Chandler can be v. cooling, esp if read in front of a fan or similar. I'm thinking perhaps a Nancy Mitford reread is in order... or Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.

Am currently taking a 12 minute break from stifling heat and humidity that inevitably dogs my yardwork schedule.
bottles of cold water [do not equal] iced tea. Hmm. (Speaking of which: may I offer you fresh mint? I have scads of it, both spear- and pepper-.)

Are these mint plants? Because I am contemplating the need for mint in my backyard.
Thanks and good cheer, F!
