Seeking Inspiration

Jul 02, 2010 15:27

Friday, sleepy, but I'm preparing for a productive (fingers crossed, anyway!) weekend. Because I am seeking inspiration, a list of Things to Assist Productivity:

So many of my friends love Mr McGregor, but apparently I need the Louche Thang. ;-)

Hugs and a good weekend, L!

Wishing you much inspiration of the sort you are seeking. Oooh, that's a nice shot of Ewan McGregor *fans self*.

I spent part of the morning watching more 10th Doctor Whoses with the Younger Daughter, whilst and at the same time finishing the picot beadwork edging around my collage block and the fringey bits on the bottom. So there was inspiration of some sort involved...

White shirt, open at the neck. It's infallible. ;-)

Hurrah for a good day, with the Doctor and with art! Hope your weekend is even better.

Polar bears and trains and werewolves

I'm not sure they're mixy things, but they're all good things.

I hope your inspiration sticks with you through the holiday weekend.

I envy for your cool dreams, and soft rain, neither of which have graced my locale of late.

Sirk and Donen would make a really interesting comparison essay, no? "The 50's: Madcap or Menacing?"

Not that "Indiscreet" was particularly madcap ... did he really *do* that?

Culp continues to inspire. I'm nothing if not predictable. :-)

[sends cool dreams and soft rain]

The thing about Sirk vs late 50s Donen -- [[clears throat]-- is that while both acknowledge the patriarchal structure as oppressive, Donen at least offers the female characters more room to maneuver. In Indiscreet Cary Grant-David's fundamental lie is horrible, but Ingrid Bergman-Anna is a mature, accomplished woman in her own right, and she can kick his ass. ;-) In Funny Face I find the Fred Astaire/Audrey Hepburn romance creepy, despite my love of Fred -- but there's Kay Thompson too, being all wicked-cool. (And oh, the clothes in both!)

But I could be wrong. ;-)

Hugs and hurrah for Mr Culp and for you!

Could you write me a Scotty-centric ficlet set in Oxford sometime? I will give you a present if you do.

EDITED TO ADD: Did you see this collection of summertime vegetarian recipes from The Guardian?

I like it how you learn me things! :-) Kay Thompson doth kick some ass ...

Ooo! Scotty in Oxford! I'll never outdo your Scotty/Mrs. Peel fic, but I'll think on't.

::hugs::

eta: er, I do use that "/" rather loosely, don't I? :-)

Ack -- I just noticed that I named Cary Grant's Indiscreet character as David, when of course it's Philip. La la.

I apparently can't be trusted on facts!

But I can be trusted when I send you good thoughts on this Fourth of July. ;-)

There's a lack of inspiration around here. Also a lack of productivity. But not a lack of rain. We got lots of that.

But these are pretty. And dry.

Poor S, I saw (on the Weather Channel) that you were getting soaked!

[offers you an umbrella]
[notes to self that a new umbrella here wouldn't go amiss, either]

I send Saturday hugs, sympathies, and wishes for a good Fourth.

EDITED TO ADD: I loved the photos in your link, btw. The sweep of fabric against sand -- breathtaking.
