Big Damn Crowd

Jack was currently informing that semi-ex of his, once again, that he did not want to go with him. He had responsibilities, here on planet Earth. Of course, that was when a whirring, wheezing noise echoed through the Hub.
“What is that?” John asked, as the TARDIS appeared.
Jack sighed, loudly. “None of your damn business. Gwen, please get him the hell outta here, now!”
“Oh, no, Jack,” Gwen said, laughing, standing her ground. “I want to see you deal with John, the Doctor, Ianto and me.”
“Guess I’ll just give up on even attempting to be the boss of this damn place, then?” he asked, of no-one particular.
“Probably for the best, Jack,” Ianto said, with a smirk. “And we all know that’s my job, anyway.”
They were so busy talking, that none of them heard the TARDIS open, and the Doctor take ten steps towards them. “Captain,” he greeted, grinning widely.
“Doctor! Welcome to our lovely little cave,” Jack replied, matching the smile. Oh, hell. His mind was telling him John was about to do something phenomenally stupid. “Stop it,” he said, glaring at him. “Don’t even start.”
“I didn’t say anything!” John protested.
“You didn’t need to!” Jack then realised who he sounded like. “Damn it, I’ve turned into you, Doc!”
“That happened a long time ago, Jack,” the Doctor told him, seriously. “A very long time ago, when I was a rather different man."
“Yeah?”
“Oh, yes. Come on, then. Let’s see around your hermitage, Captain.”
