You can not be serious about doing yulevid[1]. Doing yuletide[2] makes sense! (And sure you didn't think that a few weeks ago, but now you do!) It's only a thousand word story, and you've been writing for two decades, and you're pretty good at it, even if you haven't written strictly fanfic before. Do you only use the school's computer or do you have your own? Because if you have one with Windows, then you already have a vidding program (Windows Movie Maker). It's not super fancy, but I like it. But if you have a Mac, then I have no idea if there's a free equivalent.

Fear is not an option! Fun, now that's an option. Seriously, it's just so fun to make a vid. You should just make one, and decide later if you want to share it. That way the pressure is off. And it will probably better than you imagine right now. Thinking about showing it to people before you even start is nervous-making. Good luck and have fun.

I KNOW!!!!!!! All sorts of Austen and Austen+ and World War Z and Zelazny and etc. etc. I've never written (or hell, read*) fanfic, but I think I will sign up if you post a reminder when they're ready, some place I can see it. :)
