I loved that glimpse into Samuel's thoughts, how he knew the end was near yet embraced it when faced with the living proof that his legacy would live on in Dean. This was amazing, very well-written and so bittersweet.

Thank you so much!!!! Your reviews made my night!!! :)

Samuel struck me as being a lot like Dean, and the more I thought about the episode, the more I realized that they drew a lot of parallels between them. And even if it wasn't worded quite they same, they basically had him say what Dean has said many times, "Saving people, hunting things, the family business." Unless John somehow heard Samuel say that, I think it's genetic, lol. ;)

Awesome! I've been waiting for someone to write a good Samuel possessed story. Those last few lines are perfection.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you liked it! :) I really loved the parallels they drew between Dean and his grandfather, and couldn't resist trying to write from Samuel's perspective.

I'm sad he never got to speak with Dean once the "future grandson" thing was out... so that's why I enjoy stories like this.

I feel the same way, it would have been so nice for Samuel to get a chance to talk to Dean as himself. I'm actually working on a time-travel fic I started quite a while ago called, "In The Hands Of Time." Dean won't get to tell his grandfather who he is in that one, but he might get to tell someone else, lol. ;)

Dean. His grandson.

Their future. Their legacy.

And even as the demon sinks the blade into his stomach, Samuel smiles.

I like his sense of triumph here. He knows he's lost, but he can take comfort in knowing Dean will carry on and take care of the YED once and for all. Nicely done.

Thank you very much! :) Samuel just struck me as being a lot like Dean, in that he's prepared to die for his family and for what he believes in, and I couldn't resist giving him the chance to realize that it wasn't in vain. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it!
